This stream examines how organisations are navigating increasing constraints, particularly around funding, compliance, political exposure, and institutional sustainability. It is a space for peer-to-peer exchange about what is actually happening inside organisations, including questions that are difficult to raise in more public or funder-facing settings.
The interviews that informed this gathering surfaced conversations about alternative revenue streams, property purchase, governance under pressure, risk analysis, and even the question of how to sunset an organisation with dignity. These are the kinds of realities this stream is designed to hold.
NG team members will be present in the first and third sessions, primarily to listen and to deepen their understanding of what organisations are facing on the ground. The second session is partner-only, creating space for the level of candour that is not always possible when funders are present. What NG team members hear may inform how they think about their role and practice, but this stream does not carry the promise that specific changes will follow. It is a space for honesty between peers, with funders present in selected moments as witnesses to what is real.
Participants may find this stream most useful if they:
Are grappling with organisational challenges that are becoming more acute under current conditions.
Want practical exchange with peers about governance, sustainability, risk, and adaptation.
Want to name what is becoming unsustainable without having to position it strategically.
Are interested in hearing how others are thinking about organisational survival and transformation.
This stream may not be the best fit if you are primarily seeking personal support (Stream 1), systemic analysis of the civil society and philanthropy landscape (Stream 3), or engagement with wider geopolitical dynamics (Stream 4).
The emphasis is on candour and practical solidarity between peers. When NG team members are present, they are there to listen and to see, not to evaluate, respond, or make commitments.
The partner-only session creates space for things that cannot be said when funders are in the room. What travels from the partner-only session into shared space is determined by participants themselves.
Peer-to-peer exchange structured around real organisational challenges.
Small group conversations and case-based sharing.
Space for naming what is difficult without the pressure to resolve it.
Structured listening formats in sessions where NG team members are present.
Partner-only session held with particular attention to confidentiality and trust.
